Murch, Ohio 11:26 PM "Agent Doggett? Doggett, can you hear me?" Her voice is franctic as she rips his shirt open to get to the gushing gunshot wound. A small gutteral sound is her only reply. "Good, that's good Doggett." She tries to detach herself from what is actually going on, but can't. This is her partner, she realises slowly. Not Mulder, but still her partner. She doesn't know if she could handle the loss of another partner. "Doggett.. John, I've got to see if there's an exit wound. I have to roll you onto you side for a few seconds, alright?" She tries to move him as smoothly and as quickly as possible, knowing that the pain is weakening him. She is worried upon finding that the bullet is still inside his body, lodged in bone, or worse, and organ. She responds to his grunts of pain, moving to gently pillow his torso in her lap. "I know, I know, I'm sorry." Meaningless words to a man who has none. His breathing is labored now, a thin layer of frothy blood is covering his lips. She whispers nonsense into his ear, hoping that her voice is giving him some comfort, some solace as he drifts towards his fate. She tells him to hold on, that the ambulance is coming. She begs him not to leave her because she needs someone to help her find her soulmate. A single tear runs down her face and gently falls onto his cheek as she tells him that she will mourn him not only as a colleague, but as a friend. And as his chest rises and falls one last time, the sky opened up, the heavens weeping for a lost soul. ~~~ Fin. Author's Notes- Hey! You're still here! :) Send me feedback, please.
